International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of all Migrant Workers and Members of their Families, 1990
The Convention’s primary objective is to protect migrant workers and their families, a particularly vulnerable population, from exploitation and the violation of their human rights.
It was also adopted out of the need to bring about the international protection of the rights of all migrant workers and members of their families, reaffirming and establishing basic norms in a comprehensive convention which could be applied universally.
It entered into force on 1 July 2003.
