The ECOWAS Spain Migration Project commenced activities on September 15th, 2014 with the title – “Popularising Regional and International Provisions of Protection for West African Migrants through Training and ICT”. The overall goal of the project is to provide specialized training for personnel of migration management bodies and security services in charge of protecting vulnerable populations on one hand, and popularize the relevant ECOWAS and international provisions for the protection of vulnerable populations such as refugees and displaced populations on the other. Its specific objectives are three-fold reflected in its three components, being:
Component 1: Training of Personnel of Migration Management Bodies
Component 2: Training of Editors of National Newspapers in West Africa
Component 3: Development of Information Web Portal
This platform is the materialization of Component 3 of the project and is intended to provide accessible information to enable would-be migrants make informed decisions on countries of destination for labour, academic or other purposes. Intra-regional migration will serve to contribute to the development of the sub-region and is the major aim of this project.
